Wye Float is a charity festival in Hereford. It normally runs in August each year, although with Covid 19, 2020 was missed. We are proud to have been involved since the first year in 2017.
The main activity of Wye Float is, not surprisingly, floating people down the River Wye! Floaters arrive at the start point with their inflatables, and wait for their turn on the river. While they are waiting, there are acts on the stage and hospitality around the arena to keep everyone occupied. Once the last floater has left during the afternoon, the bars open and the site becomes much more music festival oriented. Acts and bands follow each other on stage and with the sound and light show the night finishes with a headline act to get everybody celebrating.
In our first year at Wye Float we just did the sound. We were lucky in 2018 that the stage guy from the year before let Wye Float down. We were able to step in with our new stage set up and raise the event to a new level. 2019 was our biggest year so far with a new light show and 2020 should have been bigger again. Sadly Covid messed up everyone’s plans. We had bought another big upgrade to our light package but it sat in the store and didn’t get out for even one event.
2021 is still a difficult year. However, we are proud to say we will be back at Wye Float. Our new lighting truss and lights will finally get to go out on display. We aim every year to make our show bigger and better. That way the festivals we support also get bigger and better. That keeps the crowds coming back and getting bigger too!
